Dealing With Man Boobs (Moobs)

Did you know that between 40% and 60% of men suffer from ‘moobs’ or ‘man boobs’? The medical term is Gynecomastia and it refers to the development of excess fat and breast tissue. Many men will experience this during puberty but in most cases it subsides. For some men though the condition persists or may even develop during adulthood and can become a cause of embarrassment and low self-esteem.

A number of factors can contribute to Gynecomastia including hormone changes, medication, rapid weight loss and ageing.

We always advocate a healthy lifestyle with a healthy diet and regular exercise. However, sometimes there are areas that diet and exercise alone cannot change. Male Breast Reduction Surgery can remove excess fat and breast tissue, resulting in a flatter and more contoured chest area. This type of surgery is relatively non-invasive and can usually be carried out in 1-2 hours. The process is very similar to liposuction. In most cases it involves a very small incision and the removal of excess fat and tissue.
