Why Choose a Breast Uplift?

There are many reasons why one may choose a breast uplift procedure. A breast uplift helps women who are dissatisfied with the shape of their breasts feel more confident and pleased with their appearance. The breast uplift procedure restores a firmer, more youthful profile to the breasts and improves breast symmetry. In addition, a lift can reduce the size of the areolas if they have become enlarged over time.

Breast Lift Methods We Provide

Harley Surgery approaches breast uplift procedures with the most effective strategies and technologically advanced techniques. Here are the different breast uplift methods we provide:

Crescent Lift

The crescent lift is suitable for women with smaller breasts and minor sagging conditions. Your surgeon will remove a crescent-shaped piece of skin by creating a small incision around the top portion of the areola. When sutured shut, the breast is then lifted, and scars are concealed by the areolas.

Inverted T or “Anchor” Lift

Patients with more severe sagging should consider this procedure. The Inverted T or “Anchor” Lift is best for those who require significant reshaping and restructuring. With only three incisions, this surgery removes excess skin and lifts breasts into a more flattering position.

After unnecessary skin is removed, areolas are often resized, and the nipples are repositioned upwards for better balance.

Vertical or “Lollipop” Lift

This commonly used method focuses on moderate forms of sagging. Involving two separate incisions that resemble a lollipop, the Vertical Lift targets the areola and inframammary fold(1). During the procedure, excess skin is removed, enhancing the breast profile.

Procedure Preparation

Since a breast uplift is an invasive surgery, there are a few important steps to complete before the procedure. Dr Frati and his staff will thoroughly educate you about the pre-operative tasks and recovery included in your treatment plan. We advise our patients to follow these guidelines when preparing for surgery:

  • Avoid smoking for at least three weeks before your surgery and throughout your recovery. Tobacco consumption is linked to complications with wound healing(2), blood clotting, and recovery issues.
  • Dress in comfortable clothing on the day of your appointment, and arrange to have someone pick you up after your procedure.
  • Make sure you follow Dr Frati’s directions with any medication he prescribes, and have your pharmacy’s contact information on hand. In addition, be sure to inform Dr Frati of any medications you are currently taking.
  • Avoid taking any anti-inflammatories. Over-the-counter medications such as Aspirin and Ibuprofen may cause or worsen bleeding during your procedure.

Procedure Process

Our team will customise your breast uplift according to your unique goals and needs. Before surgery begins, Dr Frati will walk you through all pre and postoperative instructions. You will be administered general anaesthesia to reduce pain during the procedure. Dr Frati will first begin by making an incision on the line of the areola and a vertical cut underneath your areola. Then, he will carefully remove excess skin, contour, and reshape the breast tissue. This operation typically only takes a couple of hours to complete.

Breast Uplift Results

You can start to see results right after surgery, while the breasts will naturally adjust to their new position. Eventually, your scars will fade and gradual results will take shape as time passes. As results take place, you can enjoy full, balanced, and elevated breasts that will last for years. It is important to note that breast uplift is a highly customizable procedure, and results will look different for every patient.

After about one to two hours after surgery, you will be discharged to home. Patients are avised to relax for the rest of the day, although bed rest is not necessary. There are no dietary restrictions post-surgery, and you can shower anytime after your procedure.

As with any procedure, breast lift recovery will look different from patient to patient. In general, most women can return to work after about 1 – 2 weeks, with  swelling resolving in about 3 – 6 weeks.

Corresponding & Complementary Procedures

Breast uplift can be performed as a standalone procedure, or enhanced with one of our corresponding procedures. Harley Surgery provides a wide range of surgical and non-surgical procedures. Here are a few of the corresponding and complementary procedures we offer:

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is a contouring surgery that provides women with larger, fuller breasts. This procedure is perfect for those who wish to gain volume and plumpness. After surgery, women can enjoy an enhanced chest profile and restore breast shape.

Breast Uplift with Implants

Want voluptuous breasts with an extra lift? If you notice your breast volume beginning to decline and lose their natural shape, breast uplift with implants may be the best choice for you! Otherwise known as augmentation mastopexy, this procedure is a great option for patients that lack volume and desire increased breast size(3).This highly customisable surgery combines two effective methods in one procedure.

Breast Implant Refresh and Removal

Sometimes, patients choose to get their implants removed or replaced to “refresh” their look. It’s important that breast implants are replaced at regular intervals, as this allows the patient to reconsider their look. Breast implants can also wear out over time, which increases the risk of shell cracks and ruptures.

Some women decide to remove implants because they of body changes, personal growth, and maturity. Dr Frati will be able to help you address your goals and create a treatment plan that works best for you.

FAQ

Am I a good candidate for a breast lift?

Breast uplift candidates should be in generally good health with no medical concerns relating to their breasts. If you have any issues with your physical health, be sure to inform your plastic surgeon and determine your candidacy for the procedure.

How long does a breast lift take?

Breast uplift surgery typically takes about 5 hours total. The actual procedures itself takes approximately 3.5 hours, while the remainder of time is spent administering anaesthesia and preparing you for post-operative recovery

What kind of scars will I have?

While there is risk of scarring after a breast uplift, modern methods such as the crescent lift minimize scarring as much as possible. Most scars fade over time and after one year, they should hardly be visible.

Can I breastfeed after breast uplift surgery?

It is crucial to let your doctor know if you plan on breastfeeding after surgery. Your surgeon may need to make some changes to your procedure in order for breastfeeding to be a safe practise post-surgery

However, breast augmentation, lift, and reduction procedures all have the potential to impact the nerves within the breast, which could negatively affect lactation.
