Nipple Enhancement

Conveniently located to serve the areas of London, Manchester, Highgate and Birmingham

Nipple enhancement with dermal fillers can change the size or shape of your nipples. The best way to bring attention to the nipples, and in turn the breasts, is by injecting hyaluronic acid (HA) into the nipple area. It’s common for women to have this procedure done if their nipples are different sizes, or if they want to resize them for aesthetic reasons; this method is both safe and effective in achieving long-term projection of the nipples. [1]

Here at Dr Riccardo Frati‘s London office, our focus is always on giving you natural-looking and well-proportioned breasts while correcting any issues with the nipple region. Nipple enhancement is commonly combined with breast augmentation or reduction, but may also be performed as a stand-alone procedure for cosmetic reasons. Ready to learn more about nipple enhancement? The Sensitive Subject of Nipples

Many women feel uncomfortable or embarrassed about their nipples if they are inverted, large, or protruding. Even though these conditions are common, they are not often talked about because people tend to be self-conscious. In most cases, a woman’s nipples are different sizes (asymmetrical), either because the breast duct tissue is shortened (inverted) or because of breastfeeding (protruding). Luckily, there is an easy solution called nipple enhancement surgery provided by Dr Frati in London that uses minimally invasive techniques.

Give Yourself a Grade

Women who complain of inverted nipples can generally be divided into three categories: Grade I, Grade II, and Grade III. Grade 1 is when the nipple can pop out on its own sometimes; Grade 2 is when you have to manipulatively pull the nipple out; and grade 3 means that no matter what, the nipple cannot be pulled out at all. It’s very frequent for each breast to have a different grade.

Dermal fillers are the second most common nonsurgical cosmetic procedure performed on women with around a 58% increase over the past five years. [2] After further examination, Dr Frati will prescribe either surgery or a nonsurgical solution like dermal filler based on your specific case.

What are the Benefits of Nipple Enhancement in London?

The benefits you might experience after a nipple augmentation with dermal filler include:

  • Nipples that are proportional to breast size and located in the centre of the breast
  • Nipples that protrude outward instead of pointing inward
  • Better breast symmetry and shape
  • More confidence in your appearance

Although there are various benefits to having this type of procedure done, it doesn’t work for everyone. Dr Frati will help you understand if nipple augmentation is the best solution for you or if another treatment would serve your needs better.

Candidates for Nipple Enhancement

The ideal candidate for nipple enhancement is an adult woman who is dissatisfied with the appearance of their nipples. Common reasons for seeking this type of procedure include:

  • Asymmetrical or unequal nipple size
  • Inverted or flat nipples that do not protrude
  • Partially missing or no nipples (a result of previous breast cancer surgery)
  • Protruding nipples that point too far outward

If you are considering breast augmentation, reduction, or an uplift, nipple surgery can be performed at the same time. This will help ensure your breasts look proportional and feel natural. Sometimes patients who have had previous breast implant surgery will opt to have their nipple(s) lifted as well.

Personal Consultation

Dr Frati will spend the consultation getting to know you and your history, as well as discussing your specific concerns. He will then let you know which procedure would be best suited to correct your problem.

A few key things to keep in mind while searching for the right plastic surgeon for your nipple augmentation are: do they make you feel comfortable, how is their bedside manner, and will you be getting the best possible results from surgery? The quality of your experience as well as the outcome of your procedure greatly differ depending on who performs the operation.

Dr Frati understands that every patient is different, with their own unique beauty goals and body proportions. That’s why he spends time during the consultation getting to know you and your specific needs and desires for nipple enhancement; this way, you can enjoy a customized treatment plan designed just for you, ensuring the best possible outcome. With the level of concern that Dr Frati shows each one of his patients, it is no wonder he is a top pick for plastic surgeons not just in London, but globally. You can be sure that Dr Frati will make you feel at ease with your decision to have surgery and confidence in yourself as you get ready for your procedure.

Preparation

Getting your nipples enhanced with dermal fillers, or surgically, is a big decision, and it’s important that you understand the risks, benefits, and what to expect before moving forward.

It’s normal to feel some anxiety, but Dr Frati will be there to answer any of your questions and help you feel as comfortable as possible. Dermal injections do not require any special preparation.

But if you are getting a surgical enhancement, here’s what you need to do to prepare:

  • Stop smoking at least two weeks prior to your procedure to promote healing
  • Avoid taking certain medications, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, two weeks before surgery
  • Arrange for someone to drive you home after your procedure

After your consultation, you will be given specific instructions on how to prepare for surgery. It is important that you follow these instructions carefully to ensure a smooth and successful recovery.

The Nipple Enhancement Procedure

Depending on your desired results, Dr Frati will suggest inverted nipple correction, length reduction, areola reduction or a combination of two or more procedures.

The surgery starts with a very small incision near the base of the nipple that won’t be visible once healed. This kind of surgery involves cutting to release the fibres that are pulling down the duct and inverted nipple. Dr Frati can also do a width or length reduction by removing a wedge-shaped piece or section at the end of the nipple.

If you’re interested in the temporary option of dermal fillers, Dr Frati can also inject fillers into the nipple to give it a more prominent look. This is a popular choice for women who want to avoid surgery or who are not candidates for surgery. A temporary nipple augmentation can be performed with filler such as Juvederm, which consists of hyaluronic acid. This method is semi-permanent and can last up to 12 months.

Recovery from Nipple Enhancement

The side effects you may experience after surgery depends on the type of augmentation you underwent. However, temporary numbness near the surgical site, tenderness, and mild swelling around your areola are some of the most widespread issues post-operation.

Dr Frati will likely advise that you not a bra during the initial week to allow the dermal filler to settle; surgery may require a compression garment. Additionally, Dr Frati recommends avoiding any strenuous physical activity for one to two weeks following any surgery.

Dr Frati will answer any of your questions and attend to your concerns during post-operative visits, as well as give you personal instructions for a faster recovery time that is based on your unique situation. If you follow these directions closely, it will help reduce post-operative complications.

Results

The results of your nipple surgery will be immediately visible, though if you have surgery it may take some time for the swelling to completely dissipate. Once it does, you’ll be able to enjoy enhanced, more aesthetically pleasing nipples that are in proportion with the rest of your body. Surgical results are long-lasting and will not require any further treatment; dermal filler injections will require upkeep.

Corresponding & Complementary Procedures

Nipple surgery is usually just one procedure, but in London, it can be combined with other procedures like breast augmentation or reduction, a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), liposuction, or facial rejuvenation.

Areola Reduction

As we age, our skin starts to stretch and lose elasticity. This can cause the areola, the pigmented area around the nipple, to become larger. Areola reduction is a surgical procedure that can help achieve a more youthful appearance by making the areolas smaller and more proportional to the rest of the breast.

This surgery is most often performed in conjunction with a breast uplift or reduction, but can also be done as a stand-alone procedure. The areola is reduced by removing excess skin and tissue around the circumference of the nipple. This can be done with a scalpel, and the incisions are usually hidden within the natural border of the areola.
