What is a Career Lift?

If you’ve heard the term ‘career lift’ in the media recently, you might be wondering what it’s all about. The term refers to a set of non-invasive cosmetic procedures (or ‘tweakments’) designed to rejuvenate the skin and create a more youthful appearance. These non-surgical procedures provide subtle enhancements, as opposed to a ‘done’ look. The treatments are favoured by career women, usually in their 40s and 50s, often with high-powered careers.

In what is often perceived to be an ageist and sexist market, it is harder than ever for women to stay ahead in the workplace. This problem increases as women get older. In a recent article in The Telegraph’s Stella Magazine, Leah Hardy writes that the gender pay gap increases for women aged 45 and over. And, according to the Office for National Statistics, the number of unemployed women over 50 has increased by 45% since 2010.

The goal of a career lift is not to look decades younger, but to achieve an indeterminate age. I.e. to look anything from 35 to 55.

Common procedures carried out as part of the career lift, include micro doses of Botox, chemical peels and skin tightening. House of Cards actress, Robin Wright, refers to these tiny doses of Botox as ’Sprinkles’ and claims that it’s a common practice in Hollywood. All of the treatments are delivered without surgery and with minimum downtime. Demand for career lifts is growing.
