Neck lift surgery in London, Manchester and Birmingham

Neck lift surgery: The neck area can show some of the earliest signs of ageing.

This is due to the fact that the skin on the neck is very delicate and can become crêpey, loose and lacking in elasticity. This can lead to jowls, where the cheek tissues sag down and hang beneath the jawline, turkey neck, where the skin becomes puckered and hangs down from the throat area or neck rolls, where large horizontal lines form on the neck. Many people have feelings of self-consciousness and embarrassment if any of these occur and seek effective, permanent solutions to the problem.

Treating the neck

At Dr Frati’s clinics in London, Birmingham and Manchester, we offer neck lift surgery to permanently tighten, tone and rejuvenate the neck area for a more youthful appearance.

Indeed, a neck lift procedure may be coupled with neck face-lifting surgery, in order to create continuity in the skin laxity, elasticity and tone in both the face and neck. However, Dr Frati may decide that if the neck area looks significantly more aged than that of the face, a neck lift is all that will be required to restore a more youthful appearance as well as your confidence.

Prior to any surgery being planned or agreed, Dr Frati will require you to attend a no-obligation consultation in order to assess your features and discuss your concerns. He will also check your medical history in order to ensure that you are fit and well for any cosmetic surgical procedure. At this stage, Dr Frati will explain how your neck lift procedure will be performed, any potential side-effects, the aftercare that you’ll need to adhere to and how long to expect your recovery to take.

What to expect from neck lift surgery

During a neck lift procedure the tissues underlying the neck is repositioned and the platysma muscle is usually also tightened. Skin is re-draped over the uplifted contours and any excess skin is cut away. The incisions are then closed with sutures or skin adhesives. A limited incision neck lift may only involve incisions around the ear, for a more discreet result and shorter recovery time.

As with any surgical procedure requiring sedation or a general anaesthetic, there will be a period of rest, recovery and downtime following the treatment. Dr Frati will explain what you should do to quicken recovery time. It’s usual to spend some time off work as well as eat a healthy diet and get lots of rest, so that your body can heal effectively.

Making sure you follow all aftercare instructions will ensure a fast recovery and pleasing outcome. The best results are achieved when both you and Dr Frati work as a team. He will lend his skills and expertise as a plastic surgeon and you can continue the good work at home but adhering to advice that he gives you during your recovery period.

Results can be experienced straight away, however you will need to be patient as there may be some swelling and bruising and sutures will need to be checked over by a nurse a few weeks after treatment. If you heal well, your scars should be minimal and fade in a matter of months after the procedure.
