Mummy makeover – the hottest plastic surgery in 2020

The Mummy Makeover with Dr Riccardo Frati: After having a baby our bodies can go through some serious changes. You’ll know that first and foremost, we can suffer from weight gain and there may have been some stretching the skin around the tummy area, due to carrying the baby for those 9 months. Our boobs can go south and lose their volume, due to breastfeeding and there might be some unwanted cellulite and stretch marks around the hips, thighs, midriff and buttocks.

If you have recently given birth or are considering a body overhaul, 2020 could just be the year to go for it! After all, you have given so much in the name of motherhood, it’s time to get that ‘yummy mummy’ body back!

At Dr Frati’s clinics in London and Manchester, we realise that having a baby is both physically and emotionally demanding and can leave you feeling like you just want to make some key changes to reach that ‘yummy mummy’ status that we hear so much about in the press. Therefore, we offer the ‘mummy makeover’ which consists of 1 to 3 surgical procedures to permanently perk you up and make you feel amazing again.

Get your breasts back with a breast procedure

Breast surgery as we know, the boobs can really suffer when it comes to having a child. God didn’t think of this when she was making her plans for us after having our little ones, let’s face it! Breast surgery can include enlarging and reshaping the breasts, lifting or reducing them and making them appear more youthful.

One of the most popular treatments following childbirth is that of breast augmentation after breastfeeding. This procedure can consist of breast augmentation (using implants to re-volumize) as well as a breast uplift. This means repositioning the breasts to restore their perky appearance. If you feel your breasts are sagging after the baby, a breast reduction may be advised, to lift them and tone the skin.

With any of these procedures, it is sometimes required to reposition the nipple and this is also possible. Before any breast surgery, Dr Frati will ask you to attend a consultation, so he can examine you and discuss the best possible options for your individual needs and requirements.

Lose the stubborn tum with abdominoplasty

A Tummy tuck (or abdominoplasty) can tighten and even tone the muscles of your post-pregnancy. The excess skin is surgically removed in either a full or partial tummy tuck. In both procedures, an incision will be made across the lower abdomen. In a full tummy tuck, Dr Frati can tighten your tummy muscles as well as reposition your belly button if needed.

In a mini tuck, muscle tightening or belly button repositioning is usually not necessary and the incision is smaller. Abdominoplasty is performed under a general anaesthetic and you may need 1 to 2 nights in hospital, so it’s worth considering your recovery times and how to arrange childcare during this period.

Liposuction – for unwanted fat removal

Liposuction is a perfect solution to remove unwanted, subcutaneous (pinchable) fat from the body after giving birth. This surgery involves various techniques, depending on your individual requirements and Dr Frati will discuss the different ways in how he performs the surgery and decide which is suitable for you, in your pre-procedure consultation. The beauty of liposuction is that is can address many areas at once. These include:

Liposuction can also be teamed with Vaser Lipo, a less invasive sculpting technique which can give a smoother result in some cases, than liposuction alone. Dr Frati may decide to combine these treatments to give you a more sculpted appearance and define your stomach muscles to give an even more toned and youthful appearance.
